Sounds like a bad blower motor resistor. Here’s a link to an example one.
The “squealing” is usually a dry bearing on the motor. Easiest fix is just replace the motor.

As far as "black" here in FL...it is what it is. I wanted a nice one. I had to take what was available (that I could afford). I couldn't call the used car factory and have them build me one that is a different color!

Hey Snoots...the problem is it’s just a pretty nice old BBM (black burbs matter)! It’s not a 4X4 or a “mudder”. I drive it almost every day!
