    I would not go as tight as 108 personally unless your running a small stall converter. 110 is about as tight as I would go. 108 will make more mid range torque and HP but will kill a little low RPM power unless it is a very small cam.     My 85 has a rear end from a 73. Just get the same rear or better yet rebuild it. Good time to swap lower gears and an overdrive transmission.

    That's sweet. I keep running and work on 2 80,000LB boilers at work and 17 ammonia compressors. Not quiet as large equipment but fun work. That engine is about the size of one of my boilers.

    You need an ignition box that will retard timing under boost. Are you looking at doing a single carb 177 set up? BYW you are driving my dream truck, freekin love that truck.

    Don't put too much faith in the simulator. Have had a few fast motors the simulator would have told you wont work. The difference in power is the transmissions. The 4L80 had a 2.48 first gear if I remember and the 700R4 has a 3.06 this is the great thing about the 700R4 the low 1st gear...
