Okay, hope I haven't missed something here, and am asking questions that were already answered. So I'm reading that those motor mount brace setups shown in JUNKMAN's photos, are/were specifically, or applicable to, the stock TH400 to Figure 8 NP205, with various engine combos? Thanks for the reply JUNKMAN, and wow, I'm uber-lucky too that my trans case hasn't cracked because I also have a Gear Vendors unit hanging off the end of the NP208! So I scored two brace/rods on eBay and one is 36" over all while the other is 34-ish"--- (((*SHRUG*)))) but the one seller...- Dave Kay

Thanks, I will measure that overall length on my M1008. NOTE: my truck is bone stock w/TH400 that came with 1986 CUCVs. Am not aware of which adapter pattern the truck has: TH400/round vs figure 8. How can I make that determination?- Dave Kay

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout~! HALP~! My M1008 came without that NP208 to bell housing rod-brace too. Am seeing lots of similar braces on Ebay but sellers don't know the application: NP205 or 208. If anyone could post a pic of either brace-rod for the purposes of identifying the differences...- Dave Kay

Yeah, I guess Cali smog laws have changed a lot since I had that cat-conv thing. FYI: Cali's stated stated goal is to get ALL older vehicles off California roads by making it almost impossible to get them smog compliant. I have heard of guys registering their Cali vehicles in Arizona to bypass...- Dave Kay

I totally agree. Back in 2008 my '86 3500, which I bought at an impound auction in Oceanside for $500 bucks, had the totally wrong carb on it when I picked it up. Didn't know that at the time, but took the carb off for a rebuild and also R&R'd the intake manifold to clean all the passages. When...- Dave Kay

About 10 years ago I had smog failures on my '77 C20 and the shop that did my carb rebuilding couldn't get it to pass so they put a cat-converter on it. That really dragged down the trucks performance but it passed. You might look into having one installed on your truck and make it a BOLT-ON...- Dave Kay

I've been wondering about that myself, as I have a 20ft trailer and taking measurements of the vehicles, both are almost 18ft long bumper-to-bumper, and loading them backwards then crowding them forward 'til I get the correct tongue weight would put the heaviest part of the truck pretty much... -

Me too~! (not the 300hp 5.7!) Taller tires/wheels wasn't something I had planned until now that I see guys going with 17 inch wheels/tires on square-bodys. So I'm going to investigate that option for my M1008. The tires currently on it are still fairly new, 235/85/16's, and they are 33inches, so... -

BTW: I have a CUCV too. Pretty much stock from the govt except I installed a Gear Vendors unit for hwy travel. She's no screamer but I can cruise at 65 nice and comfy. More on that one later...
