    Finally Found Hickey Grille Guard

It's also nice to know that there are 4 pieces and not just 2. I had assumed the outer guards and the top center pipe were all just one long pipe that was run through the plates then welded in place

I thought about that, but I like the clean classic look of the oem chrome bumper with the bolt-on accessory

    Finally Found Hickey Grille Guard

I know this is an old thread, but would any of you be able to help with some general dimensions on the Hickey setups for the 73-80 trucks? I'm looking to fabricate one for my '80 k20, and want to get it as close to this design as possible. I would need: -Tube diameters, -headlight opening...

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

The vast majority of what I use is Valvoline synthetic blends. The exceptions being engines circa 1950s and older which I use straight SAE30 in..... Anyhow, the engine was primed to where most of the rockers were getting oil, but not all. I've been hearing and reading a lot about guys running...

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

I talked to some engine guys I work with and they are all saying the lifters are too soft, and perhaps that specific lifter was a snug tighter than all the rest, it's no wonder it wore out so fast. I don't know what the factory hardness is supposed to be on these lifters, but 40-50HRC is still a...

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

No, it didn't NEED new rings, but i didn't like the hone job I had on the first rebuild, so I decided to hone again and put new rings in. Not a necessity, just a little OCD I guess.. I honestly have never used break-in lube for ANY rebuild. I make sure to use a liberal amount of assembly lube...

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

I had the case hardness checked on all 3 lifters from the original images. The 2 lifters from the Lunati kit measured 49-50 HRC, while the new Sealed Power lifter measured in at 60 HRC. I would think 50 would be way too soft for a sliding wear item like this, correct? That would explain why the...

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

The crazy thing is, I followed all of the same procedures for this cam as I did for the Comp cam I took out. It had roughly 2,000 miles on it and nothing like this. I went to Lunati because: 1: the comp cam was too big for the engine to handle 2: comp's quality has been falling 3: Lunati is...

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

Thanks, John, Do you know of any particular reason that only 1 lifter has an issue though? I could see the adjustment isolating this one out, but wouldn't poor break-in cause more than one of the lifters to fail? Initial adjustment was 3/4 turn pre-load on all valves.

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

Hello All, I have an issue with a lifter that had worn prematurely and I was looking for ANY insight as to why it's worn so bad and why so fast. I have a 1980 K20 that I put a new Lunati 10120703 cam kit in back in early summer. The engine had been running and had about 2,000 miles on a fresh...
