What size shielding gas tank to get for welding

I run straight co2 with my mig, runs a little hotter and not quite as clean of a weld. But it is super cheap and lasts forever. You must run shielding for almost all the other stuff, but regular steel is fine with straight co2. If your doing long and heavy welding a regular regulator can freeze...

    10 bolt upgrade options

Nope, nothing other than the axle stuff was needed. They work extremely well.

    10 bolt upgrade options

I went with a 2004 Silverado disk brake rear axle. It's 4 inches total wider than the squarebody axles and a very strong design. Hooking up the parking brake was very easy, I had to move the shock mounts, and I placed the new spring pads where the bump stops are on the new axle. The stock u...

Replacing ashtray with more 12v and USB ports

I just used a piece of aluminum cut from a cookie sheet. Drilled and mounted where I needed. Used pop rivets to attach. USB port, 3 LED indicators, 12v and a computer port for my EFI programming.

Disc brake conversion doesn't have E brake

The spring perches were from Summitracing, you cut the bump stops off the new axle and they go right there. You'll also have to redo the shock mounts, basically shorten and set the angle. The drive shaft was a bolt in affair, zero mods needed. Both axles are 10 bolt and use the same u joint...

Disc brake conversion doesn't have E brake

Exactly why I went that route. Unbinds the front suspension making it ride much smoother. By keeping the sway bar and going with the wider rear axle (front is also wider by about an inch due to brake conversion) I get a much more stable truck. Corners much better than it used to, feels more like...

Disc brake conversion doesn't have E brake

If you have a six lug, you can swap in a disk rear from a 99ish to 02 truck. Not very hard at all. Plus it's a wider rear axle so you don't need spacers. Same with the 14bolt but it's much less common. Here's my suburban................. Not pictured is the parking brake cables...

    6 lug 4x4 brake upgrade

The outer diameter of the hub assembly. The part where the lugs are. Just reducing the outer diameter enough to clear the inside of the rotor hat. It can be done on a standard brake lathe once the hub is pulled and the stock disk and lugs removed.

    6 lug 4x4 brake upgrade

The front was a total of $300 and the rear was also $300. The front rotors are 12.4" diameter and the rear can be 12" or 13" depending on which truck you get it from. I am also planning a swap to a late model master cylinder, but as always it's a time and money thing. Mostly right now time. The...

    6 lug 4x4 brake upgrade

A little follow-up. I installed a 2004 Silverado disk brake rear axle to complete my brake upgrades. The axle is a couple inches wider than the square body axles, making the track width almost the same as the front, so spacers in the rear are not needed. Also gives me the larger 14x1.5 lugs...

    Raise AC compressor

So the motor is a Vortec 350 from 96-00, which accessory brackets are you using? If your using the Vortec brackets everything should fit with no cutting. The factory center bolt covers fit the brackets just fine.

wheel speed sensors on a dana 44 ??

Your going to need to talk to the guy from Thorparts.com He's the one who enabled me to install Hummer H3 brakes on my old 88 suburban. If you can use the complete chevy large bearing outers on the ford axle, you are good to go. He basically converts the 10 bolt chevy front axle to use H3 brakes...

    Front caliper upgrade

I just posted a brake upgrade for your suburban. Keeps it 6 lug. The 2wd stuff for his brake upgrade is limited. What has been posted above with the Wilwood is good stuff. For 1/2 ton 4x4, my brake upgrade is the best thing going right now. Took me about a year to find it. Almost a bolt on...

    6 lug 4x4 brake upgrade

I figured I'd share my brake upgrade with the forum. I have an 88 4x4 Suburban and I am slowly upgrading it. This upgrade needs 16 inch or bigger rims depending on rim shape and fitment. I'm running 17's. Here's where we start, a stock 10 bolt front end I'm going with Hummer...
