    Since the hood can't be readily opened from only the outside, like my Squarebody, here is my parallel wired unlock (only) switch in the back of the truck. Hopefully, it would override enough to get the car opened. Haven't needed it in almost 10 years though.

    Typically in GM speak, it is the turn signals/flasher/seat belt buzzer and fuse area.

    Switch is most likely, I just had the chance to grab all when I fixed mine. My car had a lot of switch use (and miles), so it made sense.

    Being I was not far from back surgery when my incident happened, I had pulled the fuse in my car too. I wasn't in any condition to go rooting around looking for the relay in the right front kick panel, besides being so shocked the system could malfunction this way.

    If the lock function of a switch sticks, or the relay itself, these are the symptoms you will get. These old style GM lock motors/solenoids are so powerful, you cannot turn the lock cylinder or overcome the lock button, you will only pull the linkage apart. I warned family members to try the...

    I finally sold the Caprice (page 1 of this thread) last month after much procrastination, having owned it since it was new. Replaced it with this over 2 years ago. Still only has 17K miles.

    Dash/radio lose power on ignition wires

    Make sure you have the correct switch to swap too! Tilt and non-tilt column are different. The rod moves in the opposite direct between columns.

    The Buick & Cadillac horn option (I've found it as U88 on Cad and U09 on Buick) added a C & D note horns to the existing A & F notes. The Rochester products / Delco Remy horns had the note molded into them.
