700R4 Gear “Hunting”
Unplug the wire harness on the passenger side of the trans. This will bypass the TCC completely. If you still have problems, I’d say it is the 3/4 clutch pack or you have pressure problems in the trans.- Broken85

Fuel selector valve low volts
The fuel tank selector valve gets power from the switch. The switch gets it direct from the fuse block via the pink wire.- Broken85

Lost Fuel Pressure
If you get under the truck and have someone throw the switch, you should hear the valve move. If you hear it working, I’d start looking at the fuel pump- Broken85

700r4 tv cable adjustment
Get a pressure test kit from Amazon. They are like $25. Test it before you even move the truck, specs are attached. It will smoke 700r4 in five miles if you don’t. This is the only “right way” to do this.- Broken85

Fuel tank switch
It’s the switch, or the switch valve. Have someone throw the switch a couple times while you are under there and see if there is any life going to it. The switch is like $10 from LMC. Put it on a multimeter and see if it’s actually bad first. My bet is switch valve or another wiring problem...- Broken85

Fuel tank replacement on 1987 LS swapped square body
Replacing the tanks is just good hygiene for the motor. After 40 years, and at $90 each, it’s a no brainer. I would expect you have a bad fuel line, but if you are taking them down, I agree with your buddy and just replace it. Also agree with ditching the rock guards. Tank selector
Suburban tanks are good, but Way more work switching to a single 40 from dual tanks instead of just swapping the valve if it’s bad and you lose your spare tire mount. Just about every auto part store and Amazon sells the correct 6 port Pollak valve. They are all under $100, last one I bought was...- Broken85
