Lost Two Gen 3 LS Engines in my 1986 C10 2WD

Are you using the same intake manifold each time? Transfer of debris from a previous failed engine? Stuck open injector is another likelihood.

C10 LS Swap Actual Cold Air Intake

Very nice! It might be helpful to put a drain hole on the bottom of the box for water. You could even put one of those duckbill rubber drains on the outlet to keep hot air out, but still let water out, may be overkill, I dunno. Are you logging your own data? I would be curious to see intake...

Rear wheelhouses for 1991 suburban square body

I got started down this road and it appears that the inner and outer wheel housings need about 1 inch added between them to reach the quarter panel, as well as being 1.5 - 2 inches too high for the wheel arch, did you have the same fitment challenges?

Major rust repair 91 burban 1500

Just to confirm, the truck/blazer/suburban all use the same basic wheelhouse, except that the SUV's use threaded bolt holes on the one side for the spare tire carrier? LMC lists the same part number for the truck and the K5, but do not list anything for the suburban at all. I think you are...

Major rust repair 91 burban 1500

How much different are the wheel housings for the K5 vs the suburban? LMC shows them available for the K5, but at the bottom of that page it lists the suburban in the application list.

    Nasty gas tank

Might want to travel with a couple of extra inline fuel filters for a while if you're breaking that varnish free. Reminds me of a Roadkill episode where they recovered some vehicle that had a known nasty fuel system. They stuck about 4 inline fuel filters in the system in series, yanking the...

    TBI timing help…

Unplugging the coolant temp sensor defaults to -40 degrees, I believe? At the very least it will throw it into open loop, but also richen it up just based on what it thinks the temp is. Doesn't necessarily mean the sensor is bad. Running richer, or just being in open loop, could be masking...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

There is so much anecdotal information out there on what works and what doesn't, makes it difficult to determine. A/C systems are often not evacuated/charged correctly, even by many "pros".

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

Subscribing to this thread, as I am in a similar boat. AC system (with rear ac) was dead upon purchase. Found a massive leak at the front evaporator, right at the top of the side tank. I have no idea of the condition of the rest of the system, but the orifice tube was clean, which gives me...

    RETRO-Mod: Jeep intermediate steering shaft

dd1990, now I see your other post mentioning this alternate steering shaft! Link for others. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/square-body-c3500-steering-shaft-swap.42803/

    RETRO-Mod: Jeep intermediate steering shaft

Is this a direct swap? Double D on the column side and same spline count at the gearbox? Looking at RockAuto at a couple of random year squares, I don't see a steering shaft listed at all. I see the one you listed, but they don't list one for a K-truck of the same year. The C3500 shows 14...

Suburban leaf spring choice - sagging rear - question on stock ride height

I measured from the ground to the pinch welds and there is only 1" difference between the back and front. It's an optical delusion!

Suburban leaf spring choice - sagging rear - question on stock ride height

Thanks for all the replies! I did not know about the wheel opening being different. They had t he same shape front and back, so I didn't consider that. But now that you mention it, I can see it. I will measure at the rockers to put a number on it, but there is definitely some sag. I am...

Suburban leaf spring choice - sagging rear - question on stock ride height

My V1500 suburban rear springs are apparently sagging, but I understand the rear is often sitting lower than the front on many of them. I measured center of hubs to fender line, and the front is around 23" with the back about 20". Looks pretty bad. All original springs as far as I know, I...

Can the heater core be turned off?

I found mention of this valve on this site recently, looks like the valve from a 95 c/k is the one. It has 3/4 and 5/8 inlets and outlets, about $25. No idea on how well it works but it is on my to do list.
