    Solved the mystery about 2 days ago just haven't gotten to reply back! Rocker arm was tightened down way too tight and the valve wasn't closing all the way. Adjusted the valve lash and compression is at about 145psi at all cylinders. Odometer says 91k and I believe it! She runs beautifully now...

    Sounds good! I'll run out to the store today and grab some plugs. It has a hard time idling. I have to hold the pedal down a touch for it to stay running. Could be tps or throttle body I'm guessing.

    Got it to start! Thanks for all the help guys. Just got to fool around with it now because it doesn't want to idle. Need to change plugs and maybe run some sea foam through it to help clean out any crap in there because it's been sitting for a while.

    Swapped distributors and checked/swapped wires to pickup coil from other motor. Still nothing. Just cranks now and won't kick.

    Okay move the cap counterclockwise in small increments. Truck stopped backfiring but still no run. Could the distributor be bad? I've got a spare motor for parts that came out of my 87 k20 tbi. Ran like a champ so I know everything on it is in working order.

    Okay reversed the distributor and now it is backfiring out the exhaust.

    I just realized when the intake valve rocker is loose at tdc the timing mark on the balancer is on the opposite side of the plate. It's not quite a full 180* but it's close so I'm going to try spinning the distributor completely around. I may have been looking at the wrong valve under the cover...

    Okay rechecked wires on the cap and made sure we were at tdc. Rotor is pointing right at the number 1 spark plug wire as it should. Could the distributor be bad even though I'm getting spark?

    I probably had to rotate the distributor about 90 to 100* it wasn't exactly 180 away. I did the tdc by the valves because I've been reading the plates on the balancer can slip over time. I'll bring it to tdc one more time tonight to make sure I'm at tdc and I will go over the plugs to make sure...
