    Rebuild th400 or 4l80e?

My understanding has been that if you want it to shift automatically it needs some type of a computer, either a aftermarket setup or a used ecm from a obs truck. I changed my 92 C2500 454 suburban to carburetor with a 4L80 & used the stock ecm with a Holley tps & some wiring to capture speed &...

    Rebuild th400 or 4l80e?

I’ve got a 82 C20 454/TH400, I wanted to keep mine old school no computers, added a gear vendors unit which helped but with 4:10 gears still wasn’t where I wanted to be so I’m changing gears to 3:42 now.

    Motor Mounts for 454

I had trouble with my 82 C20 w/factory 454 when I tried to upgrade my mounts to urethane, everything I ordered was too small even just replacing the insert using original clam shells. I finally ordered stock mounts for my truck & got a tube of windshield urethane from our glass guy at the shop &...

    Best Flowmaster

I ran flow masters for many years but switched to magnaflow’s now and really like the deep mellow sound especially with a h pipe installed! I’ve got 18” lengths on my 82 C20 454 with all 3” pipe & get a lot of compliments on how it sounds!

    Spark plug heat ranges

41 is definitely cold, I’m going to go with a 43/44 haven’t decided yet, their gapped at 50 now which is what Performance Distributors called for so definitely going to close that up some also.

    Spark plug heat ranges

Yes I’m having a problem with fouling plugs, have been running stock heat range of 41 but upgraded the distributor to a Davis Unified that recommends wider gap on the plugs so now I’m fouling stock heat range plugs. Will increase heat range to get where I need to be, I appreciate all the help!

    Spark plug heat ranges

I guess what was confusing me the most was seeing ac delco plugs with standard 41-46 heat ranges then seeing ac delco iridium plugs with heat ranges at 16. But gonna stick with regular ac delco with a higher heat range, thanks for the help!

    Spark plug heat ranges

I’m trying to understand spark plug heat ranges, I know the ac delco heat ranges starting at 41 going up get hotter, what I don’t understand is I see ac delco iridium plugs and others listed on summit with heat ranges of 16 +/- ! How do these heat ranges compare to the 41-46 heat ranges with 46...

    Question about headers

Headers are a nice upgrade, but do buy ones with a 3/8 thick mount flange. I have them on my 82 C20 454, I ordered for direct fitment on my truck & they slide right in from underside with no issues. I also ordered better flange gaskets that I’ve had zero leaks from, also had muffler shop...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

Quality paint materials are expensive, you can expect $2k just for materials especially if you’re doing jambs also. I tell customers all the time that a full repaint will normally start out @ $10k depending on how much body work it needs.
