engine bay wiring- routing

I am working on engine wiring, I am routing wiring to starter, alt ect. My question is this, the loom of wiring gets clipped to firewall by steering shaft and it later gets clipped to engine (pass side near breather tube on valve cover). As it goes around back of engine is it clipped in place somewhere if so where? Does it just run behind distributor loose ? I dismantled this way too many moons ago to recall and my pics dont show that area. Here are 2 pics to help explain.

IIRC The harness Y's near the distributer for the coil, choke, alternator exciter, alternator charge, and A/C wires and runs up the passenger side intake manifold/valve cover.

Starter solenoid wire (purple), and two positive leads (red) with fusable links run behind the passenger head near the bellhousing (dipstick tube area) through a heat shield to the starter.

Looking at my pictures there may be a clip on the top center bellhousing bolt.

Can anyone tell me what the 2 wires are for on top of distributor cap? They were not connected to anything on my old harness....they were old and mangled

The tan wire looks like its the oil pressure sensor wire by the distributor, the green looks like a coolant temp sensor.

thanks. got the oil pressure sensor plugged in but I do not see the coolant temp connection probably right infront of me but lookin past it.

got that too....I think this is a late 80s early 90s motor. so it may be a different connection than what comes on this harness...

Green could also be the wire for the high idle actuator that connects in front of the carb - if you have one.
If you have a/c you can connect a test lamp to this wire then turn on a/c and see if the light turns on.

I am thinking the "newer" coolant sensor is on the bottom of this pic with a little pig tail ? So I would need to replace sensor to work with new harness.
Thoughts?

so i was wrong and the coolant sensor is down between the 1st and 2nd spark plug , what is this fitting/port with the short pig tail? can it be deleted/plugged?

It could also be a temp sensor/sender. Can't say where it should be connected though.

Question.... is it possible to have a connection for an oil pressure gauge and a dummy light ? I think I have both on my engine . I am sorry I don't have a pic, at work, I will try and get a pic of the back of the engine tonight to show what I am describing from memory (yea I know from memory can get you in trouble )

Ok so I see the round cyl sending unit, I also see what i have heard described as the oil pressure switch for the dummy light, can anyone shed some light on this as i am confused as how they can both be there.
