Hey guys.... i rewired the purple ignition lead wire.... no success. added another starter. voila!!!!! Nothing ever sounded so good as my wife kicking it over with my face 2 inches from a 3 inch header collector!!!! I cracked my forehead on the frame cussed cheered and almost cried.......almost. Thanks 89 suburban and retroc10. My baby girl sounds so good.. a beer for everyone . next step..... new wireing harness.

Yeah you called it alright. the wiring in this thing is so bad it'll make you cry. does anyone know if an lmc truck harness is good or painless wiring ? And i know this question is probably in the wrong area here: as yall know i got a lwb do i go up or down with it. body lift. static drop. bagged?

Because alot the cheap bastards that do those discount auto parts stores build, take one apart, replace only what it needs and what looks to be 50% or more worn, slap some new paint on it and box it and back on the shelf. That's how they keep the price down. And none of them get a new armature. If the armature is obviously bad, they trash the whole starter or sell it to a REAL Rebuilder who replaces everything. Alternators same way.

Some "REBUILT" items dont even get that much attention.
Windshield wiper motors for instance,says rebuilt,an oscilloscope is hooked to them and run,if it falls out in a minute or so then those are shipped to a rebuilder.The ones that scope OK are repainted,shoved in a box with the warranty papers,and,sent to market.
The "ONLY" new thing that was added was a coat of cheap slipshod paint.
Them so called rebuilders,they buy them things in such large quantities and tested{USUALLY IN MEXICO,TAIWAN ETC.} that they can warrantie a dozen to one person and still come out ahead.
