Does your truck have delay wipers? There is a small module for that and it is near the steering column.

No delay wipes i don't think those truck has been so hacked on I'm replacing all the wiring and trying to get everything to work the only thing not working is my lock up on my trans

Well the silver thing in the pic is a headlight fuse. So lets guess and say it the ECM.

Squarebody TBI ECM's are behind the glove box.

just so you guys know, carbureted trucks did not have ECMs in 1981

I am fairly certain, that silver box is the ESC (Electronic Spark Control ECM) 81 doesn't have TBI. Look at your distrubutor, you likley have a about an 1 1/2 inch wide 5 wire plug in hanging off of it. If so, its an ESC disrttibutor and you'd also have a knock sensor on the passeger side of the block near the center Freeze plug.
