I would look for a 8.1 if I needed a new motor. Swap has been very well documented.

Especially since people like to point out aftermarket parts are uncommon and expensive.... And don't understand it's because they really don't need them lol.

One of these days I want to see these guys show the hours spent on each step, how long it took for sub-contracting jobs to get done and how much they spent on each step. Forget about the ad plugs.

Every bolt is metric, so there's that. And then it is physically taller as well...

But I bought my 8.1 daily driver with the intention of swapping the power train into a 3/4 ton Suburban when I've bought another truck.

That looks like a good write up i know theres one other one forsure its a pdf file think it went in a crew..... I dont even have mine running i already want to swap it to 4x4 frame and put a 8.1 in it! Lol i can dream right?

LS 500 hp would go with bigger size will be easier less compression can run on pump gas. Don’t discount carb or throttle body injection factory computer can be flashed but need someone with dyno and knowledge of system.
Stock 5.3 300hp easy 400 hp
6.0 or 6.2 500 would be nice.

The last 6.0 with 6.2 heads I put together was 11.7:1 on pump gas. They run great. If being N/A is a requirement for some reason, teh rectangle port heads are where it's at.
