I'm swapping engine and transmission, pulled my transfer case to clean and paint. I'm looking for hour on Google with image search, cuz this bracket showed up in my pile of parts. At this point I'm hoping someone was ******* with me, cuz I don't know what it is or where it goes. So any advice

I'm thinking it was somewhere in the th350/np203 crossmember bracket. Or adapter piece. Mounting bracket ,

The holes on your second picture by your fingers look like a transmission mount wear

Unless it’s a 6.2 diesel part (because im not familiar with them), my money says it’s not off of a square body. I’ve messed with a lot of GM tcases and never seen that bracket.

Maybe some older model u bolt plate? The machined surface throws me off on top, maybe for a sway bar link. Maybe like a bronco or scout u bolt plate. Looks like one side sits on the cast housing of the axle like a Dana 60.

Thanks Prarie Drifter. Hopefully it's not needed, I'll set it aside for now. When I dropped the transmission and transfer case, there was a crossmember where the adapter meets, pretty normal. I should look under the truck for signs of aftermarket mods.

That looks like a trans mount relocator. Old aftermarket adapter piece for if you changed trans to one thats a little longer, but didnt want to relocate the crosmember...
Just a thought.

Yeah im thinking something like that also, cuz a set of holes match the underside of the transmission for a 2wd rear mount. At this point I'm convinced it's not going in my truck, unless I on its location. Thanks ayWoSch

The trans mount idea sounds more plausible, as an adapter.
