Last night on 4/4/24
I addressed another looming concern.
This "terminal block" seems to have been done by one of the owners.
It was a piece of wood somehow connected to a piece of rubber with studs going through it.
Seeing the wood with burn marks on it scared the crap out of me and I never got a chance to really go see what it was all connected to.

I installed a bus bar and mimicked the circuit, can't tell if that was supposed to be a ground block.
I also insulated any wires that had broken insulation.

So on 4/4/24, after getting everything all hooked up again, I started it up.
Goal was to just let it idle, I did not drive it at all.
Initial start up of just turning the key wouldn't keep her running.
I had to give it throttle (like before) to get it to start.

While running, it seemed to run really smooth.
It held a steady idle around 1000 rpm and didn't make any odd noises.
Good battery voltage, good oil pressure, honestly just ran strong.

I step outside to monitor the engine bay.
I'd say after 5 mins of starting it it just shut off as if the key went to the off position.
It was still in the RUN position when I looked at it.
It didn't sputter and die. Just sounded like someone shut it off.
Cluster was illuminated with the check engine light as if I was about to start it.

Engine bay had some kind of slight buzzing sound (key is still in RUN position),
when I moved the key back to the OFF position the buzzing went away.

I restarted the truck and let it idle again for 15 minutes. No issues.
Called it a night at that point.

Next on the list is:
1. Check fuses
2. Check any other grounds I can find, clean as needed
3. Remove air filter and let it idle again to see if the injectors stop spraying right before it shuts off
4. Possibly new Distributor
5. Possibly new ignition switch
6. Possibly new fuel pump

Any other thoughts are appreciated. I thank you for your continued support.

the way it is cutting off like that makes me think something in the ignition. make sure the distributor cap isn't cracked, plug wires aren't touching any sensor or ICM harness wires, look for arcing at night and/or mist it down with water to see if anything is arcing, etc.
