Wasn't sure if this is called geometry, but made sure that the connection to carb was close to these measurements in degrees. I have the same line drawing.

thanks

It's one thing to have full throttle right which is tight, but also the valve needs to be in a precise place all the way through the travel, that's where the geometry comes in..

The TV attachment point is 1 1/8 inch from carb butterfly shaft but maybe slightly back and not straight up and down. I printed out the deg measurements on paper and the movement looked correct as depicted in drawing.

Fingers crossed that it shifts as it should now.

Well I get no downshift at all. The normal acceleration is smooth and seems to be totally correct. I also re-hooked up the TCC valve on fire wall. No sure that has anything to do with the downshifting...

Worked today on the TV cable again. Every time I adjust it it comes out the same. When I thought back I realize that I connected the TCC fire wall valve back up to vacuum as I described in another thread and thats when no downshift started. I disconnected vacuum and the trans up shifts correctly and now down shifts correctly. My understanding is the TCC has to do with the converter lockup. Without the vacuum connected it feels like I still get lockup in 3rd and 4th gear. I don't have a tach so will probably rig up one to be sure.
