Anyone have one of these trucks/want to share your experiences on being an owner of one? I've had my eye out for a M1008 for the longest time but they don't really show up for sale around here. At least not in the condition I want it in. I need to get myself to an auction at some point in the future.

What's better than a K-30 and a half with 4x4, a Detroit Diesel, usually milage no higher than 50k, great metal, and all geared so low you can pull your house down? Nothing... except a crew cab version. :p

Attached is one I saw at the bluff the other day.

When mine was olive drab I had people asking me if it was CUCV. I usually see them all the time out at the ANG Armory, would love to find out where they auction them. Even the messed up ones would have a bunch of good parts.

Try govliquidation.com they may not be local to you all, but they could surely direct you to someone who is! They seem to have more of the Blazer type, rather than the P/U. I am probably misinformed, but I thought the diesel in the CUCV were rather weak...

Is there much of an aftermarket for the 6.2 though? It isn't a turbo either correct? A duramax swap would be sweet!

Nope, no turbo.

Banks makes a turbo kit for it.
I think GM offered it as a option on trucks back when too.

Yep, I'd sure like a CUCV some day. As for now though, I did recenlty buy a 14bolt FF out of one with 4.56, Detroit Locker and the guy had converted it to Disk Brakes. I haven't installed it anything yet becuase I am not certain which vehicle its going in yet and I'd like to swap the calipers with ones that allow E brake operation. This one currently does not and I don't always trust just Park and would prefer to convert to manual trans anyway.

I'm sorry to bump an old thread but my need for a M1008 is just getting greater and greater. My friend, the one that used to own the Suburban before we converted it to scrap metal, just picked up a M1009 off another friend's dad. He wasn't going to take it but I talked him into it. I would have if I had the money.

The stance on the first attached truck is sexual. This is exactly what I want. The other truck, owned by someone that lives near me, is equally as awesome. I love that spare tire carrier.
