Anyone ever remove the charcoal can from a tbi truck? Any issues or problems? Like plug the line and remove it?

Why would you remove it? It doesn't affect power at all, it's unobtrusive in it's little corner, and it takes care of evaporative fumes and stuff.

well it saves weight, so that would help power, but not a concern for me and it takes up room and is alot cleaner without it. I've removed 2 before and it's a ton better. Plus I smell gas fumes from it anyways.

LOl not sure, maybe a lb. doesn't matter to me. I just wondered if it'd hurt anything other then putting some fumes in the air as it's doing now. Everyone I ask seems dead set on leaving it, like it's an act of brutal violence or rape or something to remove it when I've done it before and seen plenty of others online with squarebodies and such do it.

This is for my 88 tbi though, so I'll just do what I gotta do since all I get is grilled over removing it.

Thanks for the help guys.

You can eliminate it, just run a higher risk of getting moisture in your tank. You could plumb it into the cowl and put a vent cap on it like what goes on the differential vent lines. I was thinking of doing this myself to make room for an underhood compressor and/or welder.

why go thru the time and trouble to relocate the thing as big as it is? Plus it's not doing it's job if I smell gas.

But yea I plan on throwing a vent cap or filter on the line if it gets removed.

I yanked the canister out of my 85 carbed truck for the same reasons. Its ugly, takes up space, hides rust, and serves no function given the PO had pulled every line off of it except one. Is an 88 OBD1 or OBD0? Just thinking it may cause a CEL if you remove it.

I think you can just remove it and the vapor line, plug the vapor line at the tank, and install a vented cap.

I think it's obd1 not sure never heard of 0 before. or obd0 I should say. I removed dad's 84 can and the one on my 85 monte carlo was missing when I got it.
