So, my relic has returned home and is in the brightwork stages of repair. My only issue is the hood is now stuck closed after all the new parts have been added. Any idea how to get this thing open on a 74' There's no hood cable on this model for some reason.

You're saying there's no hood release pull inside the cab?

Get a “Slim Jim” tool, I’ve used it to get hoods open in the past.

There's not supposed to be a cable. You just move the latch mechanism.

Does the handle not move? Try pushing downward on the hood while you try to release the mechanism. It might be adjusted too tight.

If the hood springs are worn you may need to push the hood forward. Easy to do w/ a couple lengths of wood. Try 2x4.

When I started my restoration my hood hadn’t been opened since 2008. I was able to get it open a few inches and soaked the hinges in WD-40 and some ATF. After a few hours of gentle wiggling and a few more shots of oil it loosened up enough to start opening regularly.

We converted our '76 back to a '73/74 a few years ago. We have to push down on the hood a bit to get the handle to allow it to pop
