What are the two "lever" or arms on the left of the picture?

I ask because some things on the truck have gotten rather ghetto over the years...like the coat hanger plug wire holders....

Pretty sure, when used in a 3 on tree, both levers are used, in an auto only the bottom is used. My 72 has the same set up, it was, is, will only be an auto..from factory

For a manual shift. Automatics never used two, automatic columns only have one.

Most definitely. I can't see someone actually swapping in one of those columns.

You never know though. Column could have been jacked at some point, guy had that one behind the garage already so that's what was put in.

Probably originally a 3 on the tree truck though.

If that's how it is, someone at some point has done some boonrigging. Your shifter must be really goofy... pull it one way to shift through the gears, push it the other way and nothing happens when it goes up and down.

I honestly do t know anymore, it didn't shift weird or anything. Just like a normal auto, I never knew what that extra arm was for, asked a mechanic friend and that's what is was told, back when I inherited the truck in 93. But, I know for fact the 72 is auto from factory.
