Is it possible to replace the seal, without removing the engine and trans -just the guard? Is it a 2 piece seal and has anyone done it. I know on some of the older jeeps you could- not fun - but could.

You remove the oil pan, rear main cap, and then you can replace both halves of the seal. I don't know how hard it is to pull the pan on a 2wd, but a 4x4 isn't hard.

On a 2wd you have to lift the motor few inches to remove oil pan I had to do that to replace gasket, you tank pan out but can properly resell it with out the motor being lifted.
