What's wrong with your steering? Maybe the pump is not to blame.
You have a few options here...

And what is the third rubber hose I see? Is that just a misplaced vent line or something?

Same one my 85 has. I had to change one of the rear bolts to fit my bracket. Napa caries a rebuilt one for $45. I could not find a replacement hose though. I had to use a 3/4" hose and make it work as my original was dry and leaked.

Shiftpro: My truck had been sitting for a couple monthes. I went out to start it, and it squealed somthing terrible... The brake pedal sank to the floor... So I think it is my power steering pump? Belts were tight...

If not the pump, then maybe the Master Cylinder? OR God Forbid... the Hydroboost...!!

Craig 85: I looked into an older truck, using 1986 GMC 1 Ton instead of 1988 and it looks like the proper pump. So Ill get it in the morning and then the adventrure begins. I also ordered "a remote fill hose" no picture of it. My original is formed. Lets hope the replacement is too, if not...?

Thanks guys,

Steve

Possibly the pump, or air in the system.. I know that the hydroboost has a sequence to bleed the air if it gets in the system, something like turning it slowly lock to lock with your foot depressing, or pumping the pedal and holding it for a few seconds at the lock in each direction while doing so.. I know that after my truck had sat for some time, I did this (but don't remember the exact chain of events) and I could feel my pedal get stiff and had noticed improvement. maybe one of the more seasoned guys remembers exactly.

If your replacement hose looks like the factory formed one let me know. I'd like to get one as I don't like the fit of mine.

Craig 85: Just a length of hose.... NOT FORMED... Bummer

I think Im going to bend some 3/4 tubing and use rubber hose at each end for connections, IF I cant use my original....

That's OEM part no. - 14040767

Try these guys - they show (1) in stock:

Craig Motors -Napa Gm
1950 Iroquois St #C,
Napa, CA 94559

(707) 224-8111

(800) 224-8111

They show it in stock, but whether they actually have it is another story.

I ended up using my original fill hose... Need to bleed system according to the instructions provided above. I did start the engine though, and it seems better but pedal still sinks quite a bit... Hopefully using the "bleeding method" listed above will fix it... If not, new master is next...

Thanks for everyone's input on this topic... I truly appreciate the help...

This is true, you can add ATF to a pump that has been bled and that's about it. It only takes a seco d to froth up ATF and an hour for the foam bubbles to settle back to liquid. If you foam up PS oil it only takes a few minutes to settle. Learned this the hard way too.

Note the step where it directs you to rotate the steering wheel from stop to stop (while stroking the brakes) - do this slowly and do it a lot of times.
