So I've been debating trying to track down a homelink overhead console for my 87. And I'm not sure it will work. Anybody have any input on this? Does the homelink run through the bcm or is it stand alone? Any input is greatly appreciated!

It's standalone John.

Power, ground and illumination (optional).

I've added HomeLink to my '89 Sierra (In the mirror); 91 Blazer and 95 Silhouette (in the OHC). SUPER easy.

Get one from a 1999 or newer. That will have the Rolling Code Technology which is compatible with 95% of garage door openers. Mine even controls a few house lights that are on remote control.

So don't shoot me but I really like this overhead console! It's out of a Honda/Acura. Thing I can't tell is if the homelink module is attached to it or if it's located somewhere else. Looks to me like it's only got 2 prongs in the power connector. For ground and 12v I assume? Any input?

. So I believe this to be the location of the power connector? I could be wrong though

Looking at the auction, that would be correct.

So from the looks of it I just need to find a connector that fits that slot and I should be good to go.

I can look for the connector while at the junkyard tomorrow. They have a lot of Hondas and Acuras, surely one has Homelink.

AH, don't worry about the cost, I take care of the squarebody crew. :waytogo: I'll be looking in the imports for homelink mirrors anyway.
