What's up guys. Got this transmission in my pickup and i discovered a cracked bearing retainer. Problem is i can't even find any information about it, its got a 5th bolt ear on top and a 7 bolt side cover.

I need a new bearing retainer because it's split down the sleeve the input shaft goes into. I'm starting to think i am going to have to get a machine shop to literally make one to match.

Casting number on the case is GM 3 6273262

Bearing retainer casting is GM 4 3925635

Bellhousing casting number is GM 6263756

And pictures

Kinda looking like a Saginaw 3 speed. Was this a 3 on tree truck? Can we at least get a hint if it's a 3 speed or 4 speed?

Need more full pics of the sides of it. Not so zoomed in where we can see the whole transmission and it's side cover.

Yes it is a 3 speed. Factory column shift. It is difficult to see as it is still installed in the truck

Nope, not an A833. By the looks, I'm gonna say with 98% certainty, it's a fully synchronized Saginaw. It's obviously not a Muncie, and by the lack of bolts on the side cover I'd say Saginaw, if it were a Borg Warner it would have more bolts on the side cover. I'm pretty certain that there were some Saggy's that had that 5 bolt mounting hole too.

It has 7 side cover bolts and it is fully synchronized. Just lost as what to do with the throwout bearing retainer. I can find the ones with the smaller diameter for cars and the SM465 all day but not this.

how about buy the smaller car one and then buy the bellhousing for a car to make it match? I had a 4 speed saginaw car trans with the small bearing retainer and a bellhousing for a 3 speed truck big bearing retainer hole and they told me to just swap on a truck big bearing retainer and run the bell housing I had

Wow! Cool! 3 on the tree and 4x4! If I had to guess, it has that 5th mounting bolt because it's a 4x4 application.

Is it not the same bearing retainer used in a 2wd truck application? I was under the impression that they used the larger pilot hole like the sm465.

One of those pics looks like it has a top loader shifter like a floor shift. Might be an SM435 if it is.
EDIT nevermind, I see the shifter rods on the side.

Its also a 350! I'm pretty sure the 2wd is the same retainer but this one has a smaller bolt pattern then the sm465, i think its the same pattern as the car type but diameter is wrong

If you find a source for a 3 speed saginaw retainer for a truck application, please post it up!

You have any pictures of your truck? It sounds really cool.

I know this is an old thread but apparently the OPs question was never answered. Just in case someone in the future has the same problem I signed up and am answering his question.

What the OP has is an SM330 transmission. It looks very much like a Saginaw but is SLIGHTLY bigger and considerably stronger. It is relatively rare.

I am assuming that the OP has fixed his transmission. At the very least he never bought one of the many used retainers for it that I have in stock.
