I've been reading through the forum here and its helped. So I figured I'd register. Well I bought a 86 K5 in the beginning of this year. Its pretty straight but needs a little work. It has a 454 L-19, four speed, a lift not sure but think its 4inch, 32's, Rancho shocks, electric fuel pump, dual flow masters and the previous owner changed it to a carb. It has edelbrock carb and edelbrock intake manifold. I'll try and get pictures up soon. Thanks Walter

Forgot a few things

Thanks Old77. I forgot to mention that it has a 12bolt rear end, which I'm not sure if its stock. The front end is 10bolt. Has manual hubs which I know aren't the original ones from looking at the inside of the glove box. One thing that has me wondering is the location of the fuel pump. Its in the engine bay on the passenger fender. Is this good or bad? Doesn't have a fuel pressure regulator either. Should I install one? What psi for fuel should I be running?

Howdy!

What brand/type fuel pump is it? I've seen several pumps mounted to the fenderwell or even the radiator support before, they seemed to work OK. Ideally, the pump would be mounted below the fuel level, and not far from the tank.

I don't know the brand. I'll take a look when I get home on Tuesday. Thanks Bucket. That's what I've read about the location. Also the filter is right before the pump?

Yeah, right before the pump. I like to have a second filter right before the carb too.

Welcome Aboard Walter. Sounds like a good project. Most of them do need a little work.

When the time comes, feel free to post up some pics in the Under Construction category and get you a build thread going. A great way to track your progress from the beginning to the never ending end, and get support and opinions along the way.
