Hey guys, Noob here.

Currently in the market for a tow vehicle, not for anything to crazy, just the occasional car or trailer with building supplies, etc.

I used to have a 2000 Tahoe Limited, was a great truck, never gave me any problems, was roomy, comfortable, and for the size, MPG wasn't too bad. Totally regret selling that truck.

So I have been looking for another Tahoe Limited, and while looking saw a couple of GMT400 Burbans that looked pretty good, which lead me to start searching for all suburbans. And in that search have seen some pretty good looking square bodies that are reasonably priced. Hence me arriving here.

I have had an old Jimmy, I think it was an 84, and my dad had an 88 Blazer, both of which were pretty cool rigs.

Wouldn't be a daily driver, maybe once or twice a week. Or as needed for hauling bigger things around.

So essentially kicking around the idea of picking something up. I'm sure, whatever I get, my HOA probably won't like it too much. The struggle is real :)

I think a Suburban is an affordable gateway to a square body project if the type is not of maximum to concern to you. I agree with barn door, but I’m going to suggest 87-91 if you’re doing a half ton and 75-91 if a 3/4 ton. My reasoning is a better 700R4 and a few more bells and whistles plus TBI on the half ton, and I’m not as concerned with the 3/4 because you’ll either have a TH400 or a 4L80E, although the latter is not likely, but I excluded the first two years so you’d have HEI.

Think round eye, barn door for the win!

:welcome:

Agree with the welcome and the round eye, but sure prefer the tailgate.
Mine now has the "ambulance doors" as one of my mechanics terms them.

But, only 1 of my 3 Subs had the tailgate.

My .02 - best of luck whichever way you go.

Round eye subs seem to be hard to find from what searching I did on the web, though.
