yea centerbolt started in 87 and continued to vortec and thru vortec.

That is correct. 87 was the year for TBI (Throttle Body Injection) 96 was the year for SFI (Sequential fuel injection) which is Mulit Port system where each cylinder has its own injector.

Vortec came out in 94 but it wasn't officially out til 96.

"Vortec" came out in late 84 with the 4.3. they just started plastering it on the valve covers in 93 with the 4.3, and in 96 with everything else.

No, the Vortec 4.3 didn't come out until 1992. It was never called the Vortec before then.
