Will the sb mounts work on a 454 when I switch out my 84 k10? I know they'll bolt up, just can't remember about height. I probably need to replace the rubber part on the frame anyway, just hoping I didn't have to go looking for the motor boxes.

I thought so, but then I was told the fan will hit the bottom of the shroud. I'm almost sure we've switched them from sb to bb, but then I got to thinking that was on a 2WD. Thanks

Yep, me too. Can't say about the fan shroud though, I run electric.

The frame mounts with the rubber are all the same, the clamshells are slightly different and the motor sits a tad lower, that's why the fan hits the bottom of the shroud, headers hit the frame too went through that last year on a friend's truck took a while to figure it out, put my BB clamshells on and everything fit perfect, but yet we couldn't see the difference between the two clamshells side by side, gotta be a very small amount..

Wonder if a 1/8 inch plate between the clam shell and the block would help?

That would also space them outward some then the hole won't line up with the frame mount.

I've always wondered about this. The later 4x4 trucks have plates that go between the block and clamshells, that serve as a mounting point for the support rods that bolt to the bellhousing. I think the clamshells are the same as the other smallblock trucks that didn't use those plates and support rods.

Bucket, that's kinda where I got the idea. i have some earlier poly mounts rubber is on the block, and they have a plate that goes between them and the block. thought about using those between clam shell and block. It would space it ought though like was said. I'll figure it out when I set the motor in.
