Cleaning out the old box today I found tools I didn't know I had, plus a couple I can't figure out what they are for.

It's like an archaeological dig, I keep expecting to find Abbie Hoffman in there.

Have you come across anything yet that looks like it belongs in an ob/gyn clinic??? If so, that's a flywheel turner, don't throw it out or it take it to the night stand drawer !!! :)

I'll post up some pics of the reorg tomorrow, but I'm not quite done. I need some dividers for a bunch of small tools.

In the meantime, wtf is this? It's 13" overall and 3.5" from the spike to the center of the hole. It must be important but I don't know what it does.

For the pic hunters. Some before and afters.

My ragtag collection of sockets in the top box...

Had room to dig out a couple extra sets. Nothing that would interest Retro though, the only "good" socket is a 15/16" S-K that I found in the street. I like the small green box of Thorsen 1/4" sockets.

hmm...you want to borrow what size wrench?

I can find it now. The bent box-end is stamped "Ford, made in Canada." The blue roll is a set of Elora wrenches made in Germany.

that's it for now, the only empty spots left are the two deep drawers in the top box but I'm sure I'll find something for them soon.

Update: Since I can't leave well enough alone I got after the new tool box.
I thought it was too much red and hit it with some satin black.

I was going to add a Chevy bowtie logo but thought that was too predictable so I decided on something with the "Heartbeat of America" ad campaign in mind.

The old Craftsman sold on Craigslist for $165.00 after four hours, so my cost on this was less than $450.00. Very happy with the US General set and would recommend them to anyone that doesn't need the street cred of a Snap On box.
