years ago-worked and did vehicles for the auctions..they used a ritz dye.on the carpet.mixed it strong and sprayed it on.out of a spray bottle..i do not know how long that last.we never used it on seats..recover.i would not sit on ritz dye.if i was you..i know there is spray for plastic.check a place that does the insides of cars..body shops can tell you..

we used to vacuum the carpet and shampo the carpet.carpet cleaner shampo and a plastic brush..scrubbing.then vacuum..let air dry..used to shampo the seats too..and rub hard with a towell..and vacuum.that was years ago..

Never used SEM on carpet, but it's great stuff on vinyl and plastic. I've used the cheap Duplicolor stuff on carpet, but it was only to fix some faded areas.
