That is Exactly where mine is, I painted the intake and used thread sealer would that be an issue?
Rusty Nail what is your suggesion to locate the Grounds, Battery And small wire ground??
It was all fine before i Installed new Gaskets
ground work best on bare metal. although I am not sure if that is the result of your code 42 (if you are still getting code 42). did you disconnect the neg terminal to clear codes and try again? if code 42 comes back, follow the diagnostics in the drivability manual.

Would a old ignition pick up cause the random stalling, it was fine before i pulled out the Distributor

Maybe. The pick-up coils fail given enough years and* mileage. They're magnetic??

Why would they fail now after a intake manifold gasket replacement

what is this vacuum arrangement? looks like something that should be hooked up to the TBI is Teed into the PCV valve line?

Goes to the canister that was there the whole time
thanks It does connect to the TBI

Could a bad temp sensor cause stalling

I'd still look at the vac hoses. the cannister, PCV, EGR solenoid, and MAP sensor should all come off different TBI ports. some are manifold vac and some are ported vac and it probably matters that they are all on the right ports. that might not be the issue, but while you are messing around may as well get it correct to match the sticker under the hood
