My inner fenders...14 gauge steel, custom arched for added clearance. I have also made some previous inner fenders out of trailer fenders, but the radius needed to be a bit massaged. The trailer fenders were in a 89 chevy pickup. Bagged and tucking 22" wheels. I will be sure to post pics when that project is done. I also have to fab rear inner fenders for that truck as well.

Yikes!!! $600 for inner fenders???

I could buy enough raw materials to make about 4 dozen at that price. Its not too difficult to make some. 14 gauge flat sheet stee (my cost was $75 for the 4' x 8' sheet).

I made a template using cardboard to determine the radius and length needed to cut.
I then bent the curve of the radius by standing on one end the the steel cutoff and bending it by hand to the correct radius that would clear the tire and match the template.
I marked the radius of the new inner fender with a black sharpie and used a cutoff wheel to cut the inner part of the side fenders on the truck.
Once cut and formed, the new inner fenders were attached up inside of their new home using self tapping hex bolts.
rubber fenderwell spray was used to coat the steel inner fenders and flat black spray paint was used under the hood.

Btw...those inner fenders are basically double axle trailer fenders cut in half. Double axle trailer fenders cost $75 each locally here at my steel supplier. I will be making a set of rear fenderwells for a friends truck soon. We will be using trailer fenders for his application. I used flat stock steel due to my ac fan, and other clearance issues in my build.
My total cost was under $150

You can make it as tall as you want/need depending on the clearance you need. Yes, I have seen them made much higher up to the top of the fender and just low enough to clear the hood when shut. The main issue to that height is you will have to relocate the battery tray, heat/ac blower fan housing and the ac condenser on the passenger side. On the driver side you would have to relocate the ac vacuum bulb, windshield washer resevoir, etc.

Sloshtubs are nice, but fiberglass and pricey. Still an option though.
