New guy here.....been a mustang and jeep guy my whole life. I just inherited my grandfathers 1978 big10. It has been very well taken care of and lots of memories from my childhood. I am in shock and awe that he gave this to me.

I love to modify vehicles...my wife says it's an addiction! I can't hardly stand to modify this since it is so original, but the I can't help but think of ways to make it better.

Anyway...here she is!

Damn that's nice! I'd take the running boards off and get new wheels and tires. Of course I'd keep the stock wheels. Welcome to the forum.

Howdy!

Personally, if I wound up with something that nice that was my grandpa's, I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I would leave it just like grandpa wanted it.

Welcome to the site. Clean looking truck and all stock. I would be reluctant to change anything unless it was offered from the factory. IMO keep it as original as possible for granddads sake.

Exactly what I'd do. If there was any 1 thing I would do, is lose the Grandpa style running boards, but with the story behind the truck, I think I'd just live with them. If I did take them off, I'd put them away up in the garage rafters for safe keeping when I got old and had to have them for myself. To bad it took the loss of your granddad to finally have a worthy vehicle. He's probably smiling down on you saying, Finally, I got that boy outta them damn Fords, I had to die to do it, but I got it done !!!

I thought the same thing about the boards but after leaving them on and doing many motor and trans replacements i have found them usefull for holding tools and bolts and beers. Also very handy when you need to stand on it, keep your foot on the gas and watch the fuel filter or carb. Granted its a keeper of rust but it looks like hes got a garage kept truck. Only other downside is on my big ten its low in the front and the boards make it a major PITA to get under.
