I've been having problems with erratic gauges and I wanted to replace the ammeter with a voltmeter and replace the oil pressure gauge with an electric one...soooo...I went to the U-Pull-it and got the necessary gauges and hard wired everything to by-pass the printed circuit. had to modify the white plastic gauge support by taking out the post clips and opening up a few holes, but now everything works!!! Put a newer speedometer in which required a different driven gear in the trans....and I put in a 7000rpm tach with a combo fuel gauge. I rewired the tank senders so now the dash gauge reads the left tank and the combo gauge reads the right tank. They both read all the time so I don't have to run them through the selector switch.

I was on a roll and while I had it all apart, I re-installed the AC/vent ducting and replaced the glovebox insert.

It was a long but very productive day...now all I have to do is fix the AC...next year

Where did you get the combo tach gas gauge? I've only found it for like 200+$ online

Are the gauge cluster boards universal or do you need the specific board to the gauges that are in the housing.

I got fed up with the printed circuit and hardwired the gauges. Real simple, just looped an ignition 12v and ground to all the gauges and ran individual sensor wires to their respective senders. I've wired enough racecars over the years that I wasn't skeered...
I pulled all the gauge clips out of the housing so as to keep from having any crossed wiring and kept the printed circuit for the lighting only.
Also had to modify the gauge housing with a Dremel to make the voltmeter and oil pressure gauges fit.

Nice... Those printed circuits are a pain. I've done one on mine and I'm just happy to have it in there and working.
