Swapping from 3.73 to 4.56 gears in my dually. Gear set had a baffle in with the shims to set the pinion depth. Need less to say it was beat up when removing the race from the housing. Bearing kit didn't have one. Seen reference to installing it if one was present. Is it really needed? Yukon shows one but most parts breakdowns don't. Thanks

No it is not required except for extreme heavy duty applications. I left mine out of my D60 when I set it up. It is meant to retain more oil on the pinion bearings.
