Building a 305 vs 350 (Good Read)

I cant recall ever even seeing any of those little trucks/suvs. I thought you were alot older Old77.

2995 1991 Syclones
2497 1992 Typhoons
2200 1993 Typhoons
Numerous prototypes as well

and 806 1992 Sonoma GTs, but they were CPI 4.3 powered and just had the Syclone front and rear cladding, as well as interior except a boost gauge.

Nope, I was born the same year as my truck...1977

The Syclone and Typhoon were really rare. Car and Driver wrote a few articles on them and also did some comparisons on them against Ferrari's I believe as far as speed tests and stuff. Might be able to dig up some of those articles if they've archived them on the net.

Great Article and I hope many others read it. I tell people all the time. A Wee O Five just isn't worth the money to build. But, I already have the 305 block. True, but the cost differance you can buy a 350 core anywhere. I hope to have a truck soon that the guy has put a 350 crate motor in it, cuz he buddy was smart and told him, No, don't build the 305. For less money you can buy a crate 350 with warranty and have it shipped to your door. And the guy did the math and sure enough, he ordered the crate and installed it.

Quoted for truth....my truck originally came with the 305. We listed out all the parts and their prices that it'd take to rebuild the motor in my garage. We then compared that price against the 350/330 hp crate motor to ship to my door and it was almost exactly the same price so it was an absolute no brainer! I quickly sold the worn out 305 for $50 and ordered by new motor
