Sure. If those are the cam specs you're looking for, that one'll pop in the 400 SBC just the same.

When you say air intake, do you mean an air cleaner/breather or an intake manifold? The air cleaner would need to be off an SBC or BBC, and the intake manifold would need to be from a car or truck with an SBC through 1986. If we're talking Quadrajets, it's a similar deal. Trucks will generally have them through 1986, but you don't want to get one off a car that was made after 1980 because those will be feedback Quadrajets.

That's always nice to hear you don't have a Wee O Five. I once bought a truck from a guy whose dad had died and it set for about 6 months til he decided he had to sell the old truck that was in his mom's way. I bought that 82 C10 for $900 when I needed a truck bad after a back surgery and had to give my brand new Crew Cab Dually back to the bank but I needed ride to Dr appts. I hated 305's but that's what it had, but it ran with a couple misses so I had to take the deal. I could never find the misses and chocked it up to bad valves even though the guy said the engine had been rebuilt about 2 years ago.

I got to looking at the #'s on the block and they came back to being like a 73 350, I thought ********. Looked at the Cast # on the back of the block, sure enough 3970010. It was indeed a 350. So the dad had a 350 put in it instead of rebuilding the 305. I pulled the heads off after a real bad vac test. The exhaust valves were recessed like cereal bowls. Put a new set of heads on that were unleaded fuel friendly and the motor ran like a brand new engine. It was a rebuilt 350 at .030 over and plenty of crosshatching in the cylinders. It didn't take long for unleaded gas to eat up the exhaust valve seats.

Apparently 1955-57 SBCs have an oiling groove in them that doesn't agree with this particular cam.
My question is they went to roller cam......and well let me know how that cam works with roller lifters.

Maybe I'm goofy but I wasn't aware the 400 small block came in Chevelles. 396/402 maybe correct me if I'm wrong.....

I was just about to bring this up from the other direction, I was under the impression that the 400 wasn't available in cars, just the trucks.

I think y'all are right. The 396 BBC came in the Chevelle. The 400 SBC was offered in the trucks.
