Yes it does, never thought about that before, always used to cut the nub and filled it in, PITA and time consuming..
Been there done that and they do polish up nicely too.

I'd have the unit on the floor with a taller handle, JMO.
I tried that once, it was comfortable but I didn't care for the longer throw because of the longer handle, but I guess if you don't shift manually all the time then it's ok..

On my old beater trucks I've always liked it up top, but I've also never had a vehicle with a nice-non messed up dash pad! Outside of My '80 Z28 that I restored where I mounted it down low on the full center console ahead of the shifter, but for my trucks.. I just stick it up where me and everyone else can see it.. Lol Once I break into redoing this truck and the interior is nice I'm planning on building a custom dash with all aftermarket gauges, but for now this will do!

I tucked mine on the dash, by the A-pillar. On my current truck, I'll probably be putting one on the column, since I'm swapping to a 5 speed manual.

I put mine in the center of the gauges, sorry I only have the photo in park for this truck as I sold it. It's a 3" tach. On my '85 K30 I'm doing the same thing, but switching to a 2 1/2" tach.

That's the way I got mine, when it's in drive it's straight up in the center, can see both gauges real easy..

I bought this one from GMSports.com. It was built by a guy in a one-man shop in Oregon (or Washington?). The first one didn't fit, and the second one sometimes hangs up and won't drop below 1,000 RPM. Obviously it replaces the fuel gauge, and you will have to grind away some plastic to make it fit.

I'd probably do something different if I had a do-over.
