Hey,
New to the forum as a member. But I've been sifting through posts since I picked up my 85 Scottsdale from a corner lot in Eastern Oregon last winter. Lotta great information on here!
This is my first project truck. It's been a lot of fun, and also a bit of a learning process. The first big fix was the drivers side fuel tank. It smelled a bit gassy when I was doing the initial walk-around. And the guy I bought it from did say: "yeah, I had to run down to the station and fill it up" when I showed up for a test drive. Didn't register with me at the time. But later, the next day, after I'd filled both tanks to the brim, turned out the left side tank was completely rusted through. So, that was the first fix (at a shop, cause I'm just not confident about dropping a tank an wiring when fuel is involved).
I've repaired a few cosmetic items (interior, bed liner, bumpers, grille, removal of some shoddily wired high-beam lights). On the mechanical side of things, I've only swapped out shocks and replaced the power steering pump.
My goal is to make this truck into a reliable daily driver. Future projects include: fuel tank sending units, front suspension (cause it a bit loose over 50 mph), and possibly a new paint job (although, I love the mat blue and black - just want to make sure the rust is sealed out since I recently moved to Michigan).
