85 K5 blazer!

Hi guy's, I'm back!!! and i have great news. am going to pick up a 1985 k5 blazer saturday!!! it's equipped with a 454, and a 700R4. Not planning on keeping that, have a 5.3 block, and a 4l60e i'm gunna put in it, and retain the fuel injection. thinking i'm gunna bore the 5.3 into an iron ls1, and put an ls6 intake on it, a thunder racing trak cam, and 243 heads. will get pictures saturday when i get it back in the yard. traded a junk 64 ford fairlane for it.

reverse is going out in the 700r4, so as soon as i switch it off, i will begin to pull the trans and begin the rebuild

googled 1985 k5 blazer to figure out exactly what i wanted to do with this beast, and i came up with this.

my k5 is already black, but we're looking at adding a 6 inch suspension lift, and a 2 inch body lift with MT 38 inch baja claws, with 15x10 rims, if i can't find the MT's for the 15's i'll go up a size in rims

Black looks so awesome when it's clean, but I just can't do black. I'm a freak about being clean on a nice vehicle and black just looks dirty to quick. And I'd never take it off road either. It would end a mall crawler if I owned a black one.

i probably won't be taking it offroad much, until after i get the lift and tires on. Can't afford gas for a 454 yet alone maintaining a 4x4. i'll baby it until i can afford it.

I'm in for pics!!!! If you're K5 ends up even half as nice as that pic you'll have a jewel and nice plans for the motor/tranny swap!!! I want to do the 5.3/4l60e conversion in my '77 super bad! It's on my list of future mods for sure.

Time and money, brother. I have 3 vehicles that I'm upkeeping and modifying along with a family of five to feed, clothe and house. It'll get done at some point In the meantime, I'll continue beating the heck out of my 350 crate motor

if all goes well, i'mjust goin to rebuild the 700r4 and stick it back under the k5 and drive it, while i work on my 85 c10. i'll do a build thread and take as many pics as i can of the ls swap and HotRodPC can add the pics to the sticky in the engine and performance section. but reguardless, this k5 will see an lx engine and tranny ONE day

yeah, what he said. He keeps making babies so most of the toys he buys now say Fisher Price and Little Tikes on them instead of GM, Holley, Edelbrock, Eaton etc.

That's funny but yet very true!! I get to splurge every once in a while but it'll be a while before I get to splurge on something cool like an LS swap in the '77! I wanna do the same thing in my '91 Caprice at some point.

^^^ i was thinkin the same thing. i can get any motor i want around me for 300 dollars, just gotta sacrifice some time to go down to pepsicola and pull it out.
