I have been looking for an am/fm 8 trac or cassette player that was offered in 70s-80s Squares
Any suggestions on where to find?

I found mine on craigslist 2 years ago that had been refurbished, but they are few and far between that are in good working condition and can be expensive.

EBay can be pricey. I' doing the same thing you are by installing an 81 AM/FM 8 track in my 84 Jimmy. I found it and some others on Facebook market place. Good luck on your hunt. If I come across more I'll post.

Took me hell to find an AM/FM cassette for Bertha and it needs work. I haven't seen an 8 track in many years.

Do you already have 8 track tapes, and you know they work well?

The 8 track mechanism only moves the tape one way, and a convoluted set of pulleys makes it wrap back around so its a continuous feed. If the tapes have been exposed to heat, or have any other issues, they don't work very well. And then you have to worry about alignment of the 8 tracks across the tape (or in some cases 4 tracks). In the grand scheme of audio choices for music, its a finicky mechanism to keep working right.
