Got a few questions for y'all. I dropped my transmission and transfer case off at the shop today to get rebuilt. What's the average price to get a 700r4 rebuilt? The guy also said I should contact a dealer and get one of their oem tv cables since an aftermarket cable would continually have to be fooled with. I am worried about the cable issue since the previous owner didn't have the cable hooked up and it fried the transmission.

I've been quoted $700-800 around here. That's adding a shift kit and some other beef. I'd suggest that for you, too, especially if that's a stock '83 transmission.

The transmission is out of a 1990 so it's the stronger K case. They quoted me $1,075 for the trans and $500 for the tcase

That all depends on the application and the "quality" of parts and service, that could make it $700-$2400..

Great on the K-Case and late model tranny. I'd still consider a shift kit, though, for some added corrections and upgrades that'll help with longevity. That's granted the rebuild is done right. I agree with Shortbed. I'd question his knowledge with the TV cable comment, which drives me to question the value of his rebuild. Have you used them before, or do you know people who have? I believe you get what you pay for, but I also feel like it's slightly too high. I'm in college, though, so everything is expensive to me. Lol

I've used them before on my dd about 3 years ago and I've put about 40,000 on it with. I problems. I have a buddy that works at a dealership that is going to look up the price on Monday and get one for me. The shop originally told me 1300 for the trans until I said I already had a brand new tc.
