468 bbc high compression

Hello this is my second square body and it’s a 1979 Chevy k20 with a 468/4l80e(no transfer case at the moment waiting for the 205 to arrive). The 468 had some work done to it, Holley sniper, aluminum heads, intake, big cam, and pistons. The compression last time checked was 12.8. The trans is rated at 1000hp so no worries there. My question is I live in a very hot climate, Qatar. Can I drive my car regularly or just in the winter and what should I check maintenance wise regarding internals. Please note I did not build my truck I payed a highly skilled team of men to do it for me. I will upload pics and a link to the video:-

If it was mine, I'd make sure it had the largest radiator known to mankind that would fit and use Evans waterless coolant.

Drive it and see how the Temps are. Should be able to drive it year round.

Yeah can’t beat a big block. I’ve got a Griffen radiator in it but temps go up at idle but will change out the fans to some from derale. Any thing I should do other than check oil and fluids?

Electric fans Or mechanical? Do you have a fan shroud? Have you checked thermostat. Don't use a safety stat. Other things like drilling a small hole in thermostat can help cool it down at idle if thermostat is working as it should.

Electric with fan shroud. Thought of doing that but will change the fans only and see how it goes

There is also high flow water pump and thermostat available if needed

I had overheating problems in my 350 scout and high flow thermostat did make a difference.it does Lots of hot slow driving.

I’ll check what stat it has and try that before changing fans. The oil pressure is a bit high 60 at idle. Is it because I’ve got the high volume/standard pressure oil pump in it ? What will have to be wary about when driving this car from time to time.

Probably have a high volume oil pump in it. I always put one in my chevys. My 66 usually pegs 60 before it starts.
