I got quoted about $2500 for a stock rebuild with a flat tappet cam. Remember I'm in California where everything is overpriced.
Thats the same price I got here near St. Louis Mo with me buying the hyd. roller cam.... @Honky Kong jr
Oh yeah? You should try Canada. We buy from Cali and even after the money exchange crimes and shipping and our Provincial tax we still usually save.I got quoted about $2500 for a stock rebuild with a flat tappet cam. Remember I'm in California where everything is overpriced.
The price of the roller cam and parts will cost as much as the entire rebuild. What are you guys paying for a stock rebuild with upgraded hyd. roller cam?

If you want a daily driver you plan on driving for several years/miles I wouldn't recommend a roller cam.
On another note, in planning/considering rebuilding you should also factor in buying a stroker crank/kit. The cost generally of a stroked crank
is only a little more than a crank regrind. If you regrind a crank the rods should be resized/honed back to original so factor in that cost too.
A stroker kit would include shorter rods. Most stroker kits have bearings, pistons and rings, harmonic dampener(damper?) and balanced flex plate.
If you keep your eyes open and search CL you might find a new kit never used going cheap.
Oh ok I was thinking older... and you already heard my take on retro roller cams anyway. Sorry forgot who I was talking to, your new avatar threwIts a 96+ vortec factory roller cam block, just want torque for towing and a power band to 5k in case I need it.
If the crank needs to be reground I will look at the cost but only if the cyl. need to bored also.
I got a quote from Chris Straub for cam, hyd. roller lifters, springs, retainers and locks for $900 said it should make 370hp and 500 tq all by 5k rpm.
