I've been reading some threads, and doing some Googling, and it doesn't seem like there's much available. I'm buying a 2WD '77 Chevy 3/4 ton longbed from my wife's Grandfather, and I'd like to lift it. I see 4X4 kits everywhere, but haven't had much luck locating anything for the 2WD models. Any help? I'm thinking a couple inches and 33's would be my goal. I'd rather not body lift it. I prefer the extra frame clearance and suspension movement.

Without completely re-engineering the front suspension, you won't gain any more travel than stock. About all you can do these days is run a set C30 coils to gain a little height. 33's should fit fine, especially if the wheels aren't too wide or have too little backspacing.

It's possible to adapt lift spindles meant to fit an '88-'98 truck, but those might not even be in production anymore.

I was afraid of that. Thanks. Are you thinking 33's will fit without modification, or with the D30 coils?

You say you don't want a body lift, but to me it sounds like your best option. I have one that I'm looking to replace but really only because my 4 speed shifter is so short. To me is sounds like a good idea for a 2wd, especially if it was just 2" to run 33s.

don't do it. the only thing you could do imho is to put 1ton springs in it, like bucket said. I don't like lift kits on any independent front suspension vehicles 2wd or 4wd. never good results. steering geometry goes out the window. highdesertranger

Put 1 ton springs on it and it'll ride like a brick. Here's a parts list for a 4 inch lift for a 2wd

I had a 2wd Blazer that fit 32's just fine, but a lot has to do with the width of the rim.

I disagree. A C30 does not ride like a brick, they actually ride nice... not much stiffer than a C10. I think the springs are simply taller more than they are stiffer.

With the parts listed a person can maintain a smooth factory C10 like ride. With factory C10 springs.

That's all fine and dandy, but it only works if those spindles are still available and you want several inches of lift. And the truck in question is a 3/4 ton anyway.

Thanks for all the info and opinions, folks. I'll figure out what I'm going to do once I actually have the truck in my possession.
