It's a 305 TBI and 700r4 car, with almost no rust. It's been off the road for 20+ years due to a "blown" engine. The main objective is to simply replace the engine and get it on the road again. I will either remove the high mile (but runs like a scalded rabbit) 305 from our other '92 Camaro to use in this one, or use a bone stock TBI 350 that I have already.

Sorry, I had a brain fart and didn't think it was necessary. But, it's just a bone stock engine bay, complete with some acorn remains from squirrels.

Unfortunately I'm not around the car right now, as I went to Virginia today. I haven't even taken delivery of the car yet. I went and looked at it yesterday afternoon and agreed to buy it, then my wife took money to him today. I'm picking it up when I get home next week.

I finally had time to haul the Camaro home today. I also remembered to get an underhood picture for @Rusty Nail. None of the tires hold air, so the first order of business will be to mount up a set of Iroc wheels with tires that hold air. My wife and I have never really cared much for the '91-'92 Z28 and RS 16" wheels, and we ran Iroc wheels on our other '92 Camaro too. Next will be finding out what's actually wrong with the engine.

I don't know if the 350 will happen...

This evening I went looking for what might actually be wrong with the stock engine. But I guess I should start with a little back story. The story goes, the engine "blew up" in mid '00 and was sold to a salvage yard. This coincides with the date the title was transferred. However, upon further inspection, the car now has 30 more miles on the odometer than it did in '00 when the title was transferred. Also, there were newer parts installed, such as front brakes, hoses and sway bar links that appear to have little to no miles on them (rotors need surfaced now though), along with an Interstate battery that was dated in '08. In the back seat, I found a TBI rebuild kit with most of the parts missing from it. While back there, I noticed the rear carpet had been pulled up and not put back properly. Sure enough, there was an access panel hacked in the floor back there for a fuel pump replacement.

So I put a battery in it and gave it a crank. It kinda struggled and sounded funny. The smog pump was completely locked up. Removed the belt and it cranked over fine, but didn't start. Checked for spark and it had it. But there was no fuel. Fogged it with 20% ether starting fluid and it fired right up. It runs just fine on 20% ether, nice and quiet. Checked for power at the pump and it's got it, but the pump simply doesn't run. The one they installed must have been a dud or something.

So it looks like I'm just going to have to fix a bunch of stuff that is a result of sitting for 24 years, plus replace the fuel pump. I'm OK with that, lol. I suppose the trans could be bad though. Guess I'll find out later.

The inside of the fuel tank is NASTY. I worked at a salvage yard and removed a lot of tanks from cars that sat a long time. But I've never seen one this ugly. Here's what the sending unit looked like:

The rubber hoses used for the pump installation were date coded early 2008, which matches the battery. Someone must have made a revival attempt then. However, the rubber hoses were not fuel hoses, they were trans cooler hoses. They had turned to goo inside.

At any rate, I have the replacement pump installed and the pump runs with the key, but there is no injector pulse. Looking into that now.
