So I recently bought a house that has a 500 foot driveway and decided I needed a plow truck. At first I was looking at the 88-98 GM trucks, but couldn't find any available that were any good. Then I decided I might atleast get a truck I like, and I saw this truck for sale for $6500 and it came with a plow. Score. I talked the guy down to $5000. The best part is, and I didn't believe it myself, is this thing is 99% rot free, just some surface rust here and there. Only rot was drivers door on the inside lip on the bottom and it really only just started to get the "rot" stage. The doors need all new weather stripping, so I'm assuming that attributed to at least some of that. Anyways, it was a 1 owner until 2012. The guy said it was a custom deluxe, but at this point, I see no evidence of it being deluxe. It has bucket seats, manual tranny, came with new American racing rims and new nitto(i think) tires, winch and custom bumpers (appear to be 1/8" steel plate. My mechanic cousin told me whatever I hit, I will destroy. I'm hoping that me plowing my driveway does not destroy the truck. I suppose if it survived this long, there's no reason why it won't last longer. The original owner believed that sloshing oil on the bottom of the truck would protect it from rust. I think he's right.
My only complaint is the bucket seats and no tilt wheel. I'm not sure if the bench seat has a different height or what. My bent knee on the clutch is hitting the steering wheel. I feel like if I was up higher it would be much more comfortable. My cousin who had the same year truck a few years ago but an automatic said his bench seat was higher.
The funny thing about me is, I have this truck, a Honda Civic, a Honda CRV, and a 1966 Mustang. Anyone looking at my garage/driveway must be shaking their head. I used to be hardcore GM until i wanted to buy a classic. Mustang was the only car I could afford. Anyways...
