Ive heard that you can fit a 15 in wheel on 3/4 if you get enough backspace. I ordered a 15x10 with 2.5 backspace and a 15x10 with 3.5 backspace. Will see how it goes. anyone else tried this?

A 15x10 with 2.5 backspacing will stick the tires outside the fender lip. front tires will probably get real close to fender too when you turn and compress suspension.
Depending on the brand/size, some rims will fit over the 3/4 ton brakes so I've heard. Perhaps grind the calipers down some? How bad do you want to run 15" rims? Why?

Back in the day we all ran 15x12 , 8 lug bart wheels , eaton wheels and clement wheels that had 3 1/2 inch back space , on our 8 lug trucks. The reason why was you could get 15 inch tires cheaper and they were everywhere and we liked the look of a lot of side wall with little wheels , ( times have changed) . Anyway , what we would do is this ,

Grind the backing plates where the caliper bolts go through

Grind the top of the caliper itself

Go get the cheapo 1/8 or 1/4 inch spacers that slide over the wheel studs

Test fit wheel with spacer , grind until you have clearance all around

Then make sure you have long enough wheel studs with the spacer installed

That's it , let me add as well , our group of 4 wheeler's beat the crap out of our square's all the time with out a single problem. My crew cab , (mall queen) , still has that set up on it as we speak.

I think oem backspacing (4.5 inches) will fit with a 15 x 8 wheel and slight grinding on the front caliper and bracket

I have a cousin that asked me one time what I thought about Chevrolet Cavalier -was it a good car? (He had recently wrecked his Grand Merc)
Without skipping a beat I says "**** no. Cavalier is a huge p.o.s. good for absolutely NOTHING. Stay far, far away from anybody that tells you different."

He replies that is really bad news because he just bought one.
"Oh yeah?" I says. "They can be great little cars if you take care of them."

This thread reminded me of Cousin Craig's Cavalier.

The offhand question though is how easy is it to find a 8 lug 15 inch wheel that is somewhat in style? I was looking at going with a 16 inch black rock crawler style from Pro-Comp and keeping a 8 or 10 inch width with relatively stock back spacing...

One of the sets that look similar to this but with 8 lugs of course...

Is there a 15" wheel that'll fit over the drum brakes on a 14 bolt FF?
