I recently dug into my front axles hubs and came across that axle nut. I knew you could buy them so I checked the price and $30 was to much for a one time use. So I took a piece of pipe, keyway stock, and a nut. (All scrap metal laying around) I welded that to the pipe and tried it on the nut, well all the tabs from the key stock bent and twiested to I took some flat iron and bent it around the keys, and welded them tight. Tried it again and it worked like a charm. It certainly isn't going to win the beauty contest, but it gets the job done at the right price. This cost me absolutely nothing directly.
